A peek at the week...

Reading: This week we will look at Unit 4. Our stories this week are called Nail Soup, The Real Story of Stone Soup, and Healthful Food Choices.

The essential question: What choices are good for us?

The genres: folktale and expository text

The comprehension skill: point of view

The comprehension strategy: ask and answer questions

The phonics/spelling skill: variant vowels, /u/

The grammar skill: linking verbs


There will be a Reading test on Friday!


English: This week we will look at linking verbs. Linking verbs connect the subject to a noun or an adjective in the predicate. It tells what the subject is or is like. The linking verb "be" has special present-tense forms. A subject and linking verb must agree. The verbs "am, is, was" are singular. The verbs "are and were" are plural. We will also look at end punctuation and complete sentences.


Spelling: This week we will look at variant vowels. There will be a Spelling test on Friday!


Math: We will continue Module 3. We will look at Lesson 21. There will be an End of Module Assessment on Wednesday, with a study guide being completed on Tuesday! We will begin Module 4 on Monday of next week!


Science: none

Social Studies: We will continue Chapter 2 : Communities and Geography.


AR: Read, read, read! The end of the quarter is 3/7!
