Personal:
I am originally from Monticello, Illinois where I attended pre-school through high school. I was very active throughout those years in many sports, activities, and clubs as a Monticello Sage! I then moved to Charleston for four years while attending Eastern Illinois University, as stated above. While in college, I was also very active in many different events, including being a member of the EIU Cheer Team. After college, I moved closer to the Springfield area and taught third grade for four years. While teaching, I continued to take summer, night, and weekend courses in order to obtain more endorsements and work towards my Master's degree. Although I enjoyed teaching third grade, I knew that my favorite part of teaching was working with small groups during Guided Reading or Extended Excelling. I then decided I would like to take on a new challenge and went back to EIU to gain experience teaching at the college level and worked on finishing the requirements of becoming a Title I teacher. I achieved my goal of becoming a Title I teacher and look forward to my 10th year of working with the students at Villa Grove Elementary. I feel very blessed to be a part of such a great school district and work with the amazing faculty and students every day.
